My Reading of The Book About A Boy

I have now read the entire book of «About A Boy». I am now going to tell what the book is about and my experience of reading it.

The book is set around the year 2000 and takes place in London, England. The theme of the book is childhood, and how friends are important at a young age. I think this theme is both important and relevant today. Why? Because as a human being we do decide who we are going to become. Its the people around us that decide and with no friends and just a sad mum, things look bad. It’s important to have friends no matter the age and «About A Boy» show this. “There had been times when he knew, somewhere in him, that he would get used to it, whatever it was, because he had learnt that some hard things became softer after a very little while.” ― Nick Hornby, About A Boy. This is a quote from «About a Boy» and I think this quote explains the friendship of Will and Marcus.

Will is much older than Marcus but as soon as they get to know each other better they get along. Life turns better for them both. Marcus becomes cooler and safer meanwhile Will gets a deeper meaning of life. The book starts with showing us kid which is miserable and an adult who can’t find meaning with his life. Things are bad for the kid but turn even worse when his mum abandons him by trying suicide. Then they meet each other and get a friendship as I explained early in the post. They both develop because of this friendship and Will become more caring for others while Marcus becomes more independent.

I had a great time reading the book. It lived up to everything as though it was going to be. It had everything. The book made me laugh and the book made me sad. Even though these are great side effects from reading a book the best of all the side effects was that the book made me think. It made me think that if I see someone is having a hard time I should maybe stop by and ask. Because not everyone has a friend even though everyone deserves one.

My First Impression of «About A Boy»

The first thing I noticed when I started reading was that it was hard to stop. I just kept on reading and before I knew it, I was at chapter 10. The book mainly follows two persons, the names of these two persons are Will and Marcus.  The book is dramatic, but still fun and I think the author has all reasons to be proud. So I think there is nothing more to say, than that I’m looking forward to continue reading.

My Book Choice

In class we got an assignment. The assignment was to do a little reasearch about two authors and then choose one of their books. I choose the book «About A Boy» wich is written by the athour Nick Hornby. The reason I choose this book is because the content of its seems exiting. Im not the saying that the other book written by Sherman Alexie seems boring. Im just saying that i think About A Boy apeels more to me because I can relate more to a city life than I can to a remote one.

My First Week Of My New Everyday

My name is Daniel Lyder Emblemsvag. I was born on the 22nd of december 2002 in Bærum, Akershus. I live in Vollen wich is a small place outside of Asker. It close to the fjord of Oslo. I’ve gone to elementary school in Vollen. Ive gone to Vollen middle school. Now im going Sandvika high school wich is an hour to travel from where I live. It may sound like a bad choice, but I actually think quite the opposite.

August 16th. That was the day I had been waiting for all summer. Why? Well because i was gonna start at a new school with new people and new teachers. A school were I almost didn’t know anyone. It’s not that I didn’t have friends at middle school. The thing is that almost all my friends went to different schools, a schools that is closer to were i live. Schools were you don’t have to wake up 6.00 AM so you don’t get late to class. A shcool were you know almost everyone and feel safe. Even though going to the same shcool as my friends may sound good, does it mean its a good thing?

I have given myself a lot of time to think when it comes to school. I have come to the conclusion that I think that I will benefit from going my own way. Instead of staying with the people I already know, im looking forward to meet new people and make new friends. I also think I will benefit when it comes to jobs from waking up early in the morning. Even though it takes more time to get to school I save time aswell. I save time because after school i can go straight to boxing practice in Oslo.

I’m done with the first week of school and looking back im happy with my choice. I’ve met a bunch new people, made new friends and learned new things. The teachers seem great, and im looking forward to staying three more years at Sandvika high school. On september 18th were going to Nordmarka in Oslo. We are going to stay there until september 19th and do activities to get to know each other better. Im really looking forward to the trip and hopefully everyone else is too. So that was me and my first week of my new everyday.108499-812940a9127ce00988fab18d4e543ce3
